All Hail the Birthday Girl Card

All hail the birthday girl!

This handmade card features the pre-colored digital stamp/sentiment "Hail Birthday Girl" designed by Maurie J. Manning of Mo's Digital Pencil. This image was a pre-release given to Ms. Manning's supporters on Patreon.

I usually color my digital stamps with markers, but this pre-colored image is so pretty that I had to use it. The background paper is from the "Que Sera Sera" paper pad by K and Company. The banners and confetti die cuts were made with the "Celebration Borders #664516" dies by Sizzix. The card measures 5" by 7".

I will enter this card in the following challenge;

I used a circle die to cut out the image and made a frame out of turquoise cardstock. I embellished the image with die-cut flowers using the "Funky Foliage" dies from Tim Holtz/Sizzix. I tried to match the color of the flowers to the color of the little girl's outfit.

Heaven's Dew and Earth's Richness

May God give you heaven's dew and earth's richness. Genesis 27:28.

I will use this card as a birthday card.

The base of the card is a blank Strathmore card that measures 5" by 7".

I chose the digital stamp/sentiment "Bounty" from Mo's Digital Pencil to feature on the front of this card. I used Canva to size and merge the image and sentiment. The hill is an element that Maurie Manning offered her Patreon supporters. I printed the image on white cardstock with my HP Photo Printer and Instant Ink. I hand-colored the image with Copic Sketch markers and Winsor & Newton Promarkers/Brush Markers. I love to mix and match my alcohol markers. I cut/embossed the image with a Spellbinders die in my die cutting machine. I mounted the image on a piece of back cardstock.

The background is a Yellow Dandelion paper. This paper was offered to Maurie Manning's Patreon supporters. I love to print digital papers on my home printer and I never run out of ink.

I embellished the card with some brown ribbon with white stitches (Stampin' Up). I then used the Spellbinder's Floral Corner 2 die to make the yellow embellishments around the corners of the image. I added three bright yellow paper flowers from my stash.

Handmade Birthday Girl Card

July is a wonderful time to celebrate a birthday! I made this card and it has already been delivered to a special birthday girl.

I chose the digital stamp/sentiment "Birthday Girl" from Mo's Digital Pencil to feature on this card.

I printed the image and sentiment on white cardstock using my HP Photo Printer and Instant Ink.

I hand-colored the image with Copic Sketch markers and Winsor & Newton Promarkers/Brush markers. I love to mix and match my alcohol markers. I used a gold gel pen to color the crown and fill in the center of the flowers.

I cut out the image using a rectangular die with my die cutting machine. I framed the image with a piece of black cardstock. I used a die-cut corner embellishment in the lower right corner of the image.

I chose Glam Glitter Polka (The Paper Studio) for the background paper. I was very happy to find a pack of this paper on clearance at Hobby Lobby. The paper is very glittery but has a smooth surface, so it is easy to glue other paper to it.

I made a strip of scalloped white cardstock and put a strip of black cardstock down the center. I attached this to the center of the card. I finished the card with a colorful stitched banner from my stash.

Khloe's Handmade Birthday Card

My granddaughter Khloe celebrated her 4th birthday this week. I made this card for her.

This is how I made the card;

I started with a blank kraft card that measures 5" by 6.5".

The pink background paper is from a Martha Stewart "Watercolor Sheets" Paper Pad.

I die cut some stars (Sizzix star die 38-0154) from a blue sheet in the Martha Steward paper pad. I added some shimmer to the stars with a Spectrum Noir Sparkle (Crystal Clear) glitter pen.

I chose the digital stamp "Caitlin" from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I colored the image with Copic sketch markers. I lightly sponged around the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink. I mounted the image on a piece of kraft cardstock.

I used the "Happy Birthday ER1007" rubber stamp from Stampabilities for the sentiment.

The gift tag on the bag was blank, so I printed "Khloe" on the tag.

I found a number "4" sticker in my stash and stuck it on the star in the lower right corner. I embellished the card with pink/white baker's twine.

Handmade Fairy Lydia Birthday Card

Please click on the picture to enlarge.
I made this birthday card for my daughter. I think this image is perfect for a spring birthday celebration.

This is how I made the card:
I started with a blank kraft card that measures 5" by 6.5".

The background patterned paper is from the "Que Sera Sera" paper pack by K & Company.

I used the following cutting dies for this card:
Spellbinders Oval
Spellbinders Scalloped Oval
Spellbinders "Happy Birthday" Sentiment
Sizzix Rectangle Frame
Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch

I used the digital stamp "Lydia" from Mo's Digital Pencil. I printed the image on white cardstock and colored it with Copic Sketch markers. I colored the background with Rembrandt soft pastels. I used Tim Holtz Distress Glaze to seal the image/background.

I cut the image with the Spellbinders Oval die and glued it to the Scalloped Oval die cut with matte medium. I used the Spellbinders die to cut the "Happy Birthday" sentiment. I used the reverse side of the background paper to make a rectangular frame behind the ovals.

I embellished the card with two butterflies that I cut with a Martha Stewart butterfly punch. I put some tiny bright pink enamel jewels on the butterflies. I put three green enamel jewels on the right side of the frame.

Handmade STEM Card for Girls

I plan to send this card to my granddaughter who will be celebrating her 15th birthday in a couple of weeks.

I think this is an excellent design to celebrate young ladies who are pursuing the subjects of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

I am using this as a birthday card but it could be used for any occasion.

This is how I made the card:
I started with a blank 5" by 6.5" card made from kraft cardstock.

The background cardstock is from the Tim Holtz Wallflower paper pack. I also used this paper for the flowers and vines.

I used the digital image "Fairy Harrietta" from Mo's Digital Pencil. This image features a girl wearing a t-shirt with the symbol of an atom on it. She is waving a magic wand and has a lovely smile on her face. The following quotation is displayed at the top of the card;
Magic's just science that we don't understand yet. ~ Arthur C. Clarke
I colored the image with Copic sketch markers. I used some red sequins to embellish the card.

I used the Sizzix die "Frame & Sculpted Flower" to make the paper flowers.
I used Spellbinders dies "Romantic Vines" to make the leaves and vines.

Perfection Handmade Birthday Card

Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you! Dr. Seuss

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were? Satchel Paige

Let us never know what old age is. Let us know the happiness time brings, not count the years. Ausonius

The way I see it, you should live every day like its your birthday. Paris Hilton

It takes a long time to become young. Pable Picasso

I make more birthday cards than any other kind. I made this card for my daughter's birthday. She is an awesome young woman and I am very proud of her.

This is how I made the card:
I started with a blank 5" by 7" kraft greeting card.

The background patterned paper is "On the Shore Stripe/Dark Blue Paper" by Kaleidoscope (My Mind's Eye, 2006). I found a packet of this lovely coordinating double-sided paper at my favorite thrift shop.

I stitched the different layers of paper together and used a piece of vintage lace for embellishment.

I used the digital stamp "Perfection" from Mo's Digital Pencil. I printed the image on white cardstock and colored it with Copic Sketch markers.

I used three sentiments from the Tim Holtz "Small Talk" pack.

I used my Dymo label maker to make the word "BIRTHDAY" at the bottom of the card.

I finished the card with a Tim Holtz ticket and a green paper clip.

I will enter this card in Mo's Challenge 252 - Anything Goes.

Handmade Birthday Card With Lots of Layers

January was a big month for birthdays. This is my last card for the month. I recently found a Fiskar's Paper Crimper at a thrift shop and was anxious to try it out.

What is a paper crimper? It is a gadget that makes any kind of paper that you run through it look "crimped" or corrugated.

I will be entering this card in Mo's Challenge #218 - "Lots of Layers". I used several different layers of paper and the cake in the image also has LOTS of layers.

I started with a blank kraft greeting card that measure 5" by 7".

I printed out the digital stamp "Tall Cake" on Strathmore Toned Tan sketch paper. I colored the image with Copic Sketch Markers.

I used a Fiskar's Corner Rounder on the image and stitched it to a piece of collage patterned paper (Collage Art Stack from DCWV). I chose the blue background paper from the same paper pack and ran it through the paper crimper. I then tore around the edges so the white core would show.

I embellished the card with the "LOVE" stickers and a mesh ribbon.

Thank you for taking a look at my card.

Handmade Cinderella Birthday Card

"Cinderella" is my very favorite fairy tale. I made this handmade birthday card for my daughter who is named "Cindy"....so this is actually a "Cindy"rella card.

I used the "Cinderella" digital stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil shop and colored it with Copic Sketch markers. I distressed the edges with Versa-Magic chalk ink (Sea Breeze).

I added some loops with a Martha Stewart punch and embellished the card with washi tape and vintage white Pebble Braid.

Here are some of my favorite quotations from the Cinderella story:

"For with each dawn, she found new hope that someday, her dreams of happiness would come true".

"A dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heartaches. Whatever you wish for, you keep. Have faith in your dreams, and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true".

A Funny Birthday Card

The theme for Mo's weekly Digital Challenge is Tickle My Funny Bone!  I made this birthday card to enter in the challenge.

This is how I made the card;
(1.) I used a blank card that is red on the front and white on the inside for the base.
(2.) I chose this digital stamp from my collection of images from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop. The name of the image is "A Big Whoop". I printed the image on kraft cardstock and colored it with Prismacolor pencils. I used a white gel pen to make faux stitches around the edge.
(3.) I punched a tag from pink cardstock and stamped a birthday sentiment on it. I embellished the tag with three glitter heart stickers (Martha Stewart) and the reinforcement for hole from Tim Holtz.
(4.) I found this darling quilled red hat sticker in my stash to finish the front of the card.

I wanted to make the card a little funnier, so I searched my rubber stamp collection and found the perfect sentiment to use with this card. This stamp was designed by Kate Harper (2008) and produced by Inkadinkado.
Kids say the darndest things, don't they?
I hope this card will bring a smile to my friend's face.

Thank you for taking a look at my card.
