Come and Sit for a Spell Halloween Card

 

I love these big eyes! The girl and the kitty have matching blue eyes and they are waiting patiently for what Halloween brings.

This card features the digital stamp "Fay and Frank" from Mo's Digital Pencil. I printed the image on white cardstock and colored it with Copic Sketch markers. I die cut the image and mounted it on black cardstock.

The sentiment is from the Halloween Collage Phrases Sheet by Lisa's Altered Art on Etsy.

The background cardstock is from the Tim Holtz Abandoned paper pack.

The finished card measures 5" by 6.5".

Kitten and Tulips Mothers Day Card

I chose this image of a kitten and a vase of tulips for my first Mothers Day card for 2019. This is card number one of five cards that I want to make for friends and loved ones.

This is how I made the card;

I started with a blank white cardstock card that measures 5" by 6 1/2".

The background is Digital Watercolor Yellow Tulips Seamless Paper Pack from Etsy. I printed the digital paper on white cardstock with my HP printer and HP Instant Ink. I never have to worry about running out of printer ink with the Instant Ink program. 

I chose the digital stamp "Boo and Tulips" to feature on this card. I printed the image on white cardstock and colored it with Copic Sketch markers and Promarkers. I printed the image a second time on yellow dotted cardstock and cut out the vase and glued it on the card (paper piecing). 

I cropped the corners of the image and glued it onto a piece of grey cardstock. I completed the card by tying a piece of white ribbon around it.

Little Witches Halloween Cards

Maurie Manning released two little witch digital stamps for the 2017 Halloween season.

The image on the left is "Little Witch Henrietta."  This digi set came with two sentiments; "Boo" and "Witching you a happy Halloween." 

The base for this project is a blank 4.25" by 5.5" kraft card. (A2)

I printed the digital image and sentiment on white cardstsock and colored the image with Prismacolor Premier colored pencils and Gamsol.

I used some orange and aqua patterned paper from the Que Sera Sera paper pad from K and Company. I embellished the card with a piece of lavender curling ribbon.

The second little witch digital stamp is "Little Witch Wendolyn." This digi set came with three sentiments; "Bewitching!", "You're Invited!" and "Bring Your Own Broom." 

I used a blank A2 size kraft card as the base for this project.

I printed the digital stamp and sentiment on a piece of white cardstock that was die-cut with a stitched rectangle die. I colored the image with Prismacolor Premier colored pencils and Gamsol. I highlighted the hair, flowers and patches with bright-colored gel pens. I embellished the card with a floral die cut. 

The background paper is from the Que Sera Sera paper pack by K and Company. 

I enjoyed making these cards and I think they turned out super cute. I wish you a happy and safe Halloween!

Cat's in the Christmas Tree Holiday Card

This mischievous cat is holding on for dear life. This card is bound to bring a smile and giggle to it's recipient. 

I made the card with the following materials:

A blank dark green card from Recollections that measures 5" by 6 1/2". 

A background piece of snowflake cardstock from the "Holiday Glitter Book" paper pack from My Mind's Eye (2009).

The digital stamp "Cat's in the Christmas Tree" from Mo's Digital Pencil. I colored the image with Copic sketch markers and cut it out with a Spellbinders die. I added some shine to the star and ornaments with my clear Wink of Stella pen.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Christmas Sentiments #CL722 (2014) clear stamps.

I embellished the card with a piece of green ribbon and a bow. I tied the ribbon around the card first and then made the bow with my Bow-Easy template and stuck it in place with a glue dot.

Candy Apple Witch Halloween Card

I think this little witch is my favorite image for my Halloween cards this year.  

These are the supplies I used to make this card:

A blank kraft cardstock card that measures 5" by 7".

Purple and orange patterned paper from my stash. 

"Candy Cane Witch" digital stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil. I colored the image with Copic Sketch markers. I distressed the background with Tim Holtz Old Paper Distress Ink.

I layered the purple and orange patterned paper under the image and attached them to the card.

I added some "Glossy Accents" to the buckle on the hat and some shiny star stickers to the background. I finished the card with a piece of lavender seam binding.

I am entering this card in the Simon Says: Halloween Inspiration Challenge.

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait

"Good Things Come To Those Who Wait".

Patience is an excellent virtue for the new year. Patience is defined as "quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence".

You can see that the cat in this image will soon be enjoying the fruits of her patience.

This is how I made this card:

I started with a blank kraft greeting card that measures 4" by 5.5". I used a corner rounder punch to round the corners.

The background paper is from a We R Memory Keepers "Storytime" paper pack (Walmart).


I chose the digital stamp "Good Things" from Mo's Digital Pencil. I colored the image with Copic Sketch markers and cut /embossed it with a Spellbinders die. I embellished the image with a small heart sticker.

I chose the sticker "Dear Thoughts, be happy" to finish the card. It is from the Tiny Text sticker set (Cosmocricket.com).

Clean and Simple Greeting Card Design

Less is more when it comes to clean and simple greeting cards.

Clean and simple is a design of card with clean lines, minimal elements, areas of white space with few or no embellishments.

I made this card for Mo's Clean and Simple Challenge.  This is how I made the card:

I started with a blank pre-made cream card that measures 4" by 5.5".

I used a Tim Holtz stencil and Distress Ink to stamp the background.

I used Mo's "Fall Kitten" digital stamp. I printed the image on craft cardstock and tinted it with Copic Sketch markers.

The sentiment is from "Clearly the Right Words" from Dylusions.

That's it! Clean and simple.

Handmade Pet Sympathy Card

Pets are real family members and it is devastating to lose them.

A pet sympathy card is a thoughtful way to express love and support to a grieving pet owner.

I made this card with an "Earth Angel Cat" digital stamp and a sentiment that came with the image. I purchased this image on Etsy several years ago but I can't locate the designer's name.

I colored the digital image with Copic sketch markers and added a little glitter glue to the angel wings.

I used machine stitching to attach the elements of the card to a blank kraft card. I used washi tape to attach the sentiment.

Kindle Books For Kids: Cat or Dog for President by Julia Dweck

A father tells his child that two men will run for president. A race? The child says his cat and dog are pretty fast.

 

This story features a dog and a cat running for president. The two pets are very different but they both seek to win the same prize. They hit the campaign trail and try to convince the voters that they are the best candidate for the job. However, they realize that they should be working as partners instead of against each other.

 

My Thoughts

Children love to learn about politics during an election year. Many schools have school-wide elections with authentic-looking ballots so children can learn about our government and how our leaders are chosen.

 

This story features a dog and a cat running for president. Many children will have a preference for a cat or dog based on their experiences with family pets. Dogs and cats are different but they are both great pets.

 

This rhyming story is a great way to teach children about politics and have some fun with the comparisons. How are dogs and cats similar? How are dogs and cats different? How are Democrats and Republicans similar? How are they different?

 

I read this book on my Kindle Fire HD and loved the color illustrations. I used the landscape orientation and the illustrations filled the entire screen. There are two lines of rhyming text on each page and you can enlarge the type by tapping on the screen.

 

This story offers an opportunity to have some fun with the presidential election. Will kids be able to choose? Dog or cat?

Wait! Maybe they won't have to choose after all.

 

Highly recommended for kids of all ages.

Cute And Cuddly Card Making Challenge

Happy Halloween!
I hope you all have a fun and festive day. I made this greeting card for Mo's Challenge #158 - Cute and Cuddly.  The theme of the card has to be cute and cuddly...babies, teddy bears, grandmas or grandpas, dolls....and KITTENS!

This is how I made the card;
(1.) I started with a blank kraft card that measures 4" by 5 1/2".
(2.) I layered a piece of pretty patterned paper on a piece of green cardstock.
(3.) I rounded the corners and used rubber cement to attach the background papers to the card.
(4.) I used the digital image "Fall Kitten" from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop. I colored the image with Copic sketch markers and then cut it out.
(5.) I glued the kitten to a large oak leaf from the "Fall Harvest" die cut set from K and Company.
(6.) I embellished the card with some additional die cuts (leaves, apple and acorn) from the Fall Harvest pack.

Make A Halloween Card

It is time to start planning for the holidays. The next three months will fly by and Halloween is just four weeks from now.

I made this card for "Mo's Challenge #155 - Anything Goes..." The only rule this week is to use an image from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop.




This is how I made the card:
(1.) I started with a blank black card that measures 5" by 6 1/2".
(2.) I took a piece of brown ribbon that features shiny fall leaves and stretched it across the top of the card. I wrapped it all the way around the back and front of the card and secured it with a glue dot on the back.
(3.) I chose this pumpkin die cut from the "Fall Harvest" pack by K & Company.
(4.) I used the digital stamp "Fall Kitten" from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop. I colored the image with Copic Sketch markers and cut it out.
(5.) I used a Martha Stewart bat sticker that says "Trick or Treat" at the top of the card.
(6.) I made the fence with Martha Stewart's "Scary Fence" edge punch. I used another die cut from the "Fall Harvest" set for the oak leaf.

Mo's "Friends" Challenge

I made this card to enter in Mo's Challenge #148 - "Friends".

I used the digital image "Kimono" from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop. I colored the image with Copic Sketch Markers and toned down the white background with pastel Pebbles chalk.

I layered Origami paper, cardboard and burlap on the background. This card measures 5" by 7".

World Traveler Greeting Card Challenge

Today I made a greeting card with an Oriental theme. I have never used this digital image before but I am very pleased with the way it turned out.
I will enter this card in Challenge #136 - World Traveler w/Mo Image.

This is how I made the card:
(1.) I started with a blank textured Avery greeting card that measures 5 1/2" by 8 1/2". This card is larger than I normally make but I found these cards on clearance at the grocery store so I grabbed them at a bargain price.
(2.) I cut a piece of green patterned paper topped with a piece of gold-striped vellum for the background.
(3.) I used the digital image Kimono from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop. I colored the image with Copic Sketch Markers and drew a black border around the image with a black Copics marker.
(4.) I mounted the image on top of several pieces of historical ephemera from Recollections. (Life's Journey Ephemera Die-Cut Cardstock).
(5.) I put a final touch on the card with Recollections paper flowers.

I am going to use this as a birthday card for a special person in my life.
