Book Review: Get Your Hopes Up! by Joyce Meyer

ONE WORD BOOK REVIEW: HOPE

Get Your Hopes Up!: Expect Something Good to Happen to You Every Day

 Author: Joyce Meyer

 Publisher: FaithWords

 Publication Date: April 7, 2015

 Length: 197 Pages

About The Author
Joyce Meyer is one of the world's leading practical Bible teachers. Her daily broadcast, Enjoying Everyday Life, airs on hundreds of television networks and radio stations worldwide. Joyce has written nearly 100 inspirational books.

Be A Prisoner Of Hope
Hope isn't something we wait to feel, it is something we decide to have. We can choose hope.

This powerful new book by Joyce Meyer is divided into the following sections:

Section 1: Hope To Go Higher
Your life will go only as high as the level of your expectations.

Section 2: Hope When You Are Hurting
Have a happy anticipation that God is going to show up on the scene, that He won't be late, and that He is going to calm the storm.

Section 3: Hope and Happiness
Whatever unexpected challenge or frustration you may face, decide in advance that you're not going to let it steal your joy.

Section 4: Hope is Here
God wants you to live in hope so that even on days when it seems like everything around you is spinning out of control, you can be firm in your belief that something good is going to happen.

My Thoughts
This is a very inspirational book based on the author's experiences, entertaining and meaningful stories and passages from the Bible.

We all need hope. This book explains how we can find it and make it a lasting influence in our lives. The most important thing is to place our hope in God. We must believe it, meditate on it, speak it, and encourage others who are also facing trials.

Joyce Meyer has written dozens of books and I believe this one is right up there with the best of them. This book will be life-changing if you read the words and hold them close to your heart.

RATING: 5 Stars Out Of 5

Book Review: The Approval Fix by Joyce Meyer

The Approval Fix: How to Break Free from People Pleasing

Author: Joyce Meyer

Publisher: FaithWords

Publication Date: June 3, 2014

Length: 139 Pages

About The Author
Joyce Meyer is one of the world's leading practical Bible teachers. Joyce has authored nearly 100 books, which have been translated into 100 languages.

Breaking Approval Addition
Many people struggle with "approval addiction." They want to feel accepted and approved by peers and family members. Mrs. Meyer presents proven principles, personal stories and Bible text that will help readers overcome their addiction to people pleasing.

This book is divided into the following four sections:
  • Accepting Who You Are
  • Breaking Approval Addiction
  • Putting an End to People Pleasing
  • Finding Freedom from Comparison, Rejection and Control
The author believes that we should be "God Pleasers" instead of "people pleasers." Mrs. Meyer has first-hand knowledge of what approval addiction can do to a person's spiritual, emotional and physical health. This book offers information and encouragement to all who are ready to make positive changes in their lives.

Favorite Quotations
"True freedom never comes until we fully realize that we don't need to struggle to get from others what God freely gives us: love, acceptance, approval, security, worth, and value."

"If you feel you have lost something or someone you cannot do without, you are wrong. The only thing or person in life we absolutely cannot do without is God."

"When you enter into a new relationship, be careful how you get started. What you allow in the beginning will come to be expected throughout your association with that person."

"The person who is most likely to be controlled is someone who has always been controlled, so being controlled is a habit, a way of life."

"We should do what we do for the love of God and others. Being motivated by fear instead of love or faith does not please God."

My Thoughts
I have read many of Joyce Meyer's books in the past. I have followed her ministry for over 15 years and have been blessed by her teachings and publications.

This book is briefer and more concise than many of her previous books. I like the way the author gets right to the heart of the matter with fewer stories and anecdotes.

This book provides life-changing information for all who desire a life of confidence, acceptance, love, peace, joy and strength.

My Rating: 5 Stars Out Of 5

FYI ~ I received a complimentary digital copy of this book to read and review from NetGalley.

Book Review: Power Thoughts Devotional by Joyce Meyer

Power Thoughts Devotional: 365 Daily Inspirations for Winning the Battle of the Mind
By Joyce Meyer
Publisher: Faith Words
Date:  October 22, 2013

About The Author
Joyce Meyer is one of the world's leading practical Bible teachers. A #1 New York Times bestselling author, her books have helped millions of people find hope and restoration.

Happy New Year!
I have taken a little break from blogging over the past two months. I appreciate all my readers and thank you for your encouragement and support. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of blogging in 2014.

An Inspirational Resource For The New Year
"Power Thoughts Devotional" is based on Joyce Meyer's New York Times bestseller, "Power Thoughts". This book provides 365 daily devotions to help eliminate negative thoughts and encourage power thoughts.

The devotions provide a Bible verse, a message and a brief power thought. These devotions are based on Joyce Meyer's teachings and are designed to change your thoughts and your life.

My Thoughts
I am very impressed with this devotional book. The devotions are very brief and can be read in a minute or two. It is amazing how the author presents such powerful content in just a few sentences.  You definitely get quality instead of quantity in this book.

The devotions always give you something to think about and to apply to your life. The "Power Thoughts" are only a few words and can be easily committed to memory. An example of a Power Thought is, "I will not live in fear".

Today is the first day of a new year. This book can make a difference in your life. I plan on starting today and using this book as my devotional book for the entire year of 2014. Take a few moments each day to renew your mind and receive guidance from the Word of God. Highly recommended!

Battlefield Of The Mind Giveaway WINNER

We have a WINNER!  Last week I sponsored a book giveaway to find a new home for Battlefield of the Mind: Winning the Battle in Your Mind by Joyce Meyer.  The contest ran from January 7th until January 14th. This was the biggest book giveaway yet!  Thirty-nine readers left a comment on the post saying they would like to read this book.  I wish I had enough books to give each one of you a copy.
I love to do my drawings the old-fashioned way.  I wrote down numbers 1 - 39 on a piece of paper and cut each number out.  I then folded the numbers and put them in a big bowl.  I mixed them all up and then I said the following prayer, "Lord, please let me pick a person who will read this book and is serious about gaining a closer relationship with you".
I reached in the bowl and pulled out number 36.  I emailed Summer yesterday evening and received the following reply from her this morning, "The reason why I entered is to become closer to God. I think He wants the same thing because I don't win very many giveaways but I have won 4 books so far by Joyce Meyer. I'm very excited about this book."
Congratulations to Summer!  I want to thank each one of you for entering this contest.  Many of you have become followers of this blog and I am just thrilled to have you as part of the family.  You have sent a clear message that you love to read Joyce Meyer books SO.....I will annouce another Joyce Meyer book giveaway tomorrow.  The name of the book in next week's giveaway is Me and My Big Mouth: Your Answer is Right Under Your Nose.  Hope to see you tomorrow!

Joyce Meyer Washes Feet

Last night I attended a Joyce Meyer Conference at Lakewood Church in Houson, Texas.  Lakewood Church is a huge megachurch that is housed in the former basketball arena of the Houston Rockets.  There were probably around 10,000 people in attendance.
The evening began with praise music led by Martin Smith, lead singer and song writer from the former Christian rock band Delirious? .  The music was powerful and the audience members were on their feet during the entire 30 minutes of priase and worship.
At the end of the music, Joyce greeted the crowd and made her plea for support for her ministry.  She showed an emotional video of some of the work that the Hand Of Hope World Missions is doing to help the poor and sick people of the world.  It is truly amazing to see the hospitals, clinics, orphanages, schools and shelters that are a result of contributions to the Joyce Meyer Ministries.  A picture is worth a thousand words and the video did a wonderful job illustrating the work that  Joyce's world missions are doing.
The theme of conference was "Others" and Joyce Meyer used Scripture from John 13: 1-17 as the basis of her message.  Jesus washed his diciples's feet and Joyce said that all Christians should be servants.  Joyce took a towel and tied it around her waist and then got a pan of water.  She then acted out the Scripture by washing the feet of Martin Smith, an unknown lady from the audience and Dave Meyer.  It was really touching to see this world-famous Bible teacher down on her knees washing feet.  She made her point very clear ~ If Jesus Christ could humble himself and wash feet then so can we.
I thought it was interesting that Joyce mentioned her book, The Love Revolution, in the message last night.  She said that she considered this one of the best books that she has written but it has sold fewer copies than any of her other books that have been published in recent years.  I am giving away a copy of "The Love Revolution" next week on this blog.  Please enter to win!
I have been attending Joyce Meyer Conferences for the past eight years.  I am always inspired by Joyce's messages and last night was no different.  I have to say that Joyce seemed tired and didn't have the energy and pizazz that I have seen in other years.  She said that they had just returned from a trip to India and it appeared that she was still weary from this long journey.
May the Lord bless and keep Joyce Meyer and her entire ministry team.

Book Giveaway: The Love Revolution

I am really excited about the response to my book giveaways.  I love to read and have tons of books.  I am thrilled to pass these books along to my fellow book lovers.
This week I am giving away a copy of The Love Revolution by Joyce Meyer.  Joyce Meyer has a world-wide Christian ministry and has written dozens of books.  I was really inspired by this book because it challenged me to reach out to others and try to make a difference in their lives.  She said you don't have to do anything big or spectacular.  The little things that you can do everyday have the potential to have a much greater impact than you can imagine.
