Summer is here! It is time to go to the beach, lake, pool...or anyplace that is cool.
I made this card for Mo's Challenge #192 ~ F is for...." I decided that "F" is for "FUN in the sun!!!" and made this card to enter in the challenge.
I used the digital stamp "Little Umbrella" from Mo's Digital Pencil.
I colored the image with Copic Sketch markers and highlighted the edges with Versa Magic Chalk Ink. I embellished the card with two stickers from Recollections.

I made this card for Mo's Challenge #152 ~ Buttons!
I have a granddaughter who loves anything with a peace sign on it, so I decided to combine the buttons theme with some pretty patterned paper with peace signs on it.
This is how I made the card:
(1.) I took a peace of cream colored cardstock that measures approx. 5" by 7" and ran it through my Cuddlebug with the "Keyboard" embossing folder.
This made the impression of a piano keyboard on the right side of the paper.
(2.) I covered the left side of the cardstock with a piece of patterned paper called "Glam Gal Words" from Recollections.
(3.) I used light blue cardstock to cut the pretty boarder with the Moroccan Accents die from Spellbinders. This is the first time I have used this die and I am very pleased with the results.
(4.) I glued a heart-shaped lace paper doily to the patterned paper.
(5.) I chose the digital stamp "Laptop Baby" from Mo's Digital Pencil. I colored the image with Copic Sketch markers and cut it into a circle shape. I then framed it with a kraft cardstock circle.
(6.) I embellished the card with a piece of vintage satin ribbon and four pink baby buttons.

Yesterday I was at Krogers getting some groceries and stocking up on my diet soda. As I was walking down the soft drinks aisle, something caught my eye. I saw a group of large cans with a peace sign on the front. I just wrote a blog article last week about the peace sign, so I went over to investigate these cans. The cans said Peace Tea and they were made by the Peace Tea Beverage Co. in Carona, California.
There were several flavors but I decided on the green tea. I noticed that the price was $0.99 per can. OUCH...that is kind of pricey for a can of green tea. I took a closer look and noticed that this super-sized can contained 23 fluid ounces of tea. That is equal to three 8-ounce glasses.
On the back of the can were pictures of four signs with the following messages;
- 100% natural tea
- No artifical flavors
- No preservatives
- No artificial colors
The drink was sweetened with natural sugar and contained 50 calories. I decided to give it a try. I bought one can, brought it home and put it in the refrigerator. I got it out today and took a sip. It tastes good. It is sweet but not too sweet. This is a healthy alternative to my drink of choice....Diet Dr Pepper.
I am not sure if this company is marketing to baby boomers (old hippies) or to a new generation of peace activists. I have to say that I am pleased with the packaging, price and taste of this product. I am sold on Peace Iced Tea!
Do you recall those Volkswagen Beetles covered with hand-painted daisies, peace signs and the word GROOVY?
Peace signs had humble beginnings in the early sixties, used as a rallying symbol to stop nuclear proliferation. They traveled to Woodstock, where people painted peace symbols on signs, their clothing and their bodies to express their heartfelt desire for peace and harmony throughout our world. Peace signs in any shape and size have always represented desire for a better world.
I am working on a set of note cards that feature the retro peace sign. I made this card this afternoon using a rubber stamp from Recollections and coloring the image with Prismacolor pencils. When I was in college, I remember these Volkswagon bugs were so popular. I think this card might just put a smile on the face of any nostalgic baby boomer.
