Father's Day Card for The Beefather

I want to wish all fathers a very Happy Father's Day!

I made this card for my husband. He is a wonderful father, grandfather and husband. He is also a great "beefather" to our new hive of honeybees. Bee keeping is a fascinating hobby and an excellent way to help the environment.

This is how I made this card:
I started with a blank kraft cardstock card that measures 5" by 6.5".

The background paper is "Honey Comb Hexagonal Digital Papers" from PrettyGrafikDesign on Etsy.

The honey bee paper is "Honey Bee Digital Paper" from Kitty Papers on Etsy.

I chose the digital stamp "Baby Fairy Bee" from Mo's Digital Pencil. I printed the image on white cardstock and colored it with Copic Sketch markers. I sponged some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Old Paper) around the edges of the image.

I attached the sentiment above the fairy image and finished the card by tying a piece of nubby green yarn around it.

Stock's Up Father's Day Card

Father's day is right around the corner. This is an opportunity to express love and gratitude to our father, husband, grandfather and other important men in our lives.

This is how I made this card;

I started with a blank kraft card that measures 5" by 6.5".

For the background papers, I attached a piece of patterned paper from the "Newsworthy" Paper Pack by The Paper Studio (@2013) to the blank card. I then printed out "Father's Day Papers" from Mo's Digital Pencil on white cardstock. I lightly sponged the edges of the paper with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink. I then mounted the digital paper on a piece of kraft cardstock.

I chose the digital image "Stock's Up (boy)" from Mo's Digital Pencil. I printed the image on white cardstock and lightly sponged the edges with distress ink. I used Ranger's Glossy Accents on the glasses to add dimension. I colored the image with Copic Sketch markers. I rounded the corners and mounted the image on a piece of kraft cardstock.

4 Dad Father's Day Card

I hope you all had a happy Father's Day weekend. The Texas weather has been super hot, so I stayed indoors and made this card for my husband.

These are the material I used to make the card;

I started with a blank 5" by 7" kraft cardstock greeting card.

The background cardstock is Granny's Kitchen - Tea Towel/Kitchen Tiles by SEI. I used a paper punch to make the scalloped lower edge.

I used the digital image "4 Dad" (Girl, Straight Hair Version) from Mo's Digital Pencil. I printed the image on white cardstock and colored it with Copic sketch markers. I then cut it out. I attached the image to a piece of off-white cardstock and framed it with kraft cardstock.

I used a Martha Stewart punch to make the kraft cardstock label and placed the "love you" sentiment in the center.

I finished the card with four brads in the corners and a piece of silk yarn.

Love You Daddy Father's Day Card

Father's Day is this Sunday and I made this card to honor an awesome Dad in our family.

These are the materials I used to make this card:

The base is a blank 5" by 7" kraft greeting card.

I used a piece of cardstock from the Tim Holtz "Crowded Attic" Idea-ology Paper Stash Pad. This paper is a reproduction of an antique French catalog page. I used a paper punch to make the lower edge look like it was removed from a spiral notebook.

I used the digital stamp "Love You Daddy" from Mo's Digital Pencil. I printed the image on white cardstock and colored it with Copic sketch markers. I cut/embossed the image with a Spellbinders die.

I used letter stickers from my stash to write the word "Daddy" across the top of the card. I put a small brad (brushed gold finish) at the top of each sticker.

I finished the card by tying a piece of variegated seam binding on the side of the card.

I am entering this card in "Mo's Challenge #264 - Anything Goes".

Thank you for taking a look at my card. Please share your thoughts in the Comment Section below.

Life Lessons Learned From Dad

I would like to share a beautiful tribute that my husband wrote to honor his father, Emmett Wayne Fuller.  My husband grew up on a cattle ranch in Oklahoma and he learned the following life lessons from his dad. This tribute was read by the pastor to commemorate my father-in-law on September 6, 2008, after he lost his battle with cancer.

When we were growing up in the mid 1970's, we usually prayed for rain on the weekends, especially during the winter, because if it wasn't raining Dad would get us up early to go work outside...even if a blue northern was blowing in. Our house had a fireplace which meant we had to cut wood on the weekends to last through the coming week.

I have two memories from our early wood cutting days that had unexpected life lessons tied to them. The first was when we went into the woods with the pickup truck to get a load of wood. Dad had cut down a large tree and asked us to back the truck as close to the tree as possible so we could start loading the wood. After we filled the pickup bed to over-flowing with firewood, we got in the cab to head for the house. We traveled about six inches and the truck came to a sudden stop. We had backed the truck over the stump of the tree and with the bed loaded with wood, the back bumper was catching on the stump.
LIFE LESSON ~ Plan ahead, see the big picture, think things through before starting and cut stumps closer to the ground.

The second memory was when we went to cut wood on one of the coldest days I can remember, we had on several layers of clothes because it was so cold! It was well below freezing, the ground was frozen so we could drive across the pasture in the pickup. We worked on clearing brush and cutting fire wood until well past noon. It was getting warmer because we were removing all the extra layers of clothes we had put on earlier. When we finally cut an over-flowing load of firewood, it was time to head for the house...or so we thought. The ground was no longer frozen and we ended up getting stuck. We had to walk to the house and get the tractor to pull the pickup all the way back to the house.
LIFE LESSON ~ Expect the unexpected and don't take the easy way out. We should have taken the tractor out in the first place, but we wanted to drive the pickup because it was warmer.

There are many more life lessons like these that we learned from Dad that have helped us over the years. Most were not verbal, but if you knew Dad he lead by example and/or actions.
LIFE LESSONS ~ If you break it, you fix it. If you make a mistake, acknowledge it and learn from it. Do it right the first time and be done with it. Don't ask anyone to work harder than you do. The easy road is not always the best road.

When we were growing up we thought Dad was too rough on us at times by making us work so hard; but he was using it to instill his work ethics and values in us. These values have benefited us in our personal lives and careers many times over.

It wasn't difficult to see the last life lesson Dad wanted to teach us...it was his faith. During the most trying times he would continue to pray asking for God's will to be done, even though it would have been easier to give up hope. At the end of his life, we all knew he was ready for God to call him home.

Handmade Father's Day Card

Father's Day is just two weeks from this Sunday.  This afternoon I made a handmade card for my dad.  I have been scrapbooking and making handmade cards for about a year now.  WARNING:  It is very addictive!
I have another blog where I have posted some of my greeting cards.  I have recently discovered the fun and ease of using digitial stamps.  A digital stamp is especially made to be colored and used on handmade greeting cards or scrapbooking projects.  I love Mo's Digital Pencil Shop.  Mo Manning is a children's book illustrator who has built a very successful business selling digital stamps.
The name of this digital stamp image is "The Big Guy's Garden".  I chose this image because my dad worked as a farmer and wore overalls just like this when he worked in the fields.  I used Prismacolor pencils to color the image and a solvent to blend the colors.

I will write a personal Father's Day greeting on the inside of the card.
