About The Author
Kate Kerrigan is the author of City of Hope, Ellis Island, and Land of Dreams.

Turning Back the Years
Lily Fitzpatrick is a well-known fashion blogger whose specialty is vintage. She spends her time rummaging through piles of vintage clothing looking for the perfect piece with its unknown history.

After her grandfather suddenly passes away, Lily wonders about his mysterious background and family. She has heard little of his heritage, and the need to know becomes an obsession. She learns that the woman wearing a beautiful dress in an old clipping she found may indeed be a relative of hers. Lily longs to know this woman’s story and the story behind “the dress”. The idea plays on Lily’s mind to recreate the dress in the clipping.

These three women: Lily Fitzpatrick, Joy Fitzpatrick, and Honor Conlon, are all so different, yet bound together for eternity by the dress.
  • Lily Fitzpatrick is in the present-day attempting to recreate the dress, in a highly publicized dual of fashion designers.
  • Joy Fitzpatrick is having this one-of-a-kind dress made to rekindle the romance with her husband.
  • Honor Conlon is trying to make a name for herself in the world of fashion as an immigrant in New York 1950’s.
Each woman’s life is changed forever.

My Thoughts
"The Dress" was a wonderfully written book that allowed the reader to travel through time to learn about the history of the mysterious dress. The characters were so well developed that I felt a connection to them all. The descriptions of the vintage dresses were so wonderfully written, I could almost see them for myself. I have even taken an interest in vintage dresses myself since reading it. I highly recommend this book!

Book Review: Fashionably Dead by Robyn Peterman

Title:  Fashionably Dead: Book One of the Hot Damned Series (Volume 1)

Author: Robyn Peterman

Publisher: Amazon Digital Services, Inc.

Publication Date: September 2, 2013

Length: 322 Pages

This book review was written by guest blogger Cindy Phelps Thomas.

About The Author
Robyn Peterman, writes because the people inside of her head won't leave her alone until she gives them life on paper. She writes snarky, sexy, funny paranormal and snarky, sexy, funny contemporaries.

Laugh-Out-Loud
Astrid is wandering through life at 29 years old with little to show for herself, except her love of expensive clothes. She deems it time to quit smoking, as she has many times before, but, this time, goes the route of hypnotism. One minute a beautiful Amazon woman is hypnotizing her, the next she’s a Vampyre!

Her day just got a whole lot worse. Thankfully her best friend, Gemma, is still around to help (although there is something not-so-mortal about her too!)  And Astrid’s not just any Vampyre, she’s The Chosen One. Being The Chosen One comes with a lot of responsibility, and a lot of Prada.

Astrid has to be trained by a foul-mouthed Guardian Angel, a muscle building/actor look-a-like fairy with a bad sense of style, and more. She is supposed to take out the rogue Vampyres, but who are they?

Is this super-hot, hard to resist Vampyre, named Ethan, one of them?  She has a lot to learn in a short period of time, but with enough Prada, she may be up for the task!

My Thoughts
This book was laugh-out-loud funny and unlike anything I’ve ever read! Peterman takes the reader on a paranormal journey with action, adventure, comedy, and some steamy romance. When I saw the cover of this book, I knew I had to read it. I was NOT let down. From the beginning, I was drawn in and couldn’t wait to read more. I recommend this book for a mature audience. There is A LOT of foul language and several R-rated scenes.  I give it 5 stars and I look forward to book 2 in the series.

MY RATING: 5 Stars Out Of 5

FYI ~ I received a free digital copy of this book during a promotion on Amazon.com.

What's Age Got To Do With It? by Robin McGraw: A Review

Robin McGraw is the wife of best-selling author and television talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw. Robin is on a mission - her goal is to teach women how to age with grace and dignity.
The book is divided into the following topics that will interest most women;
Fitness
Nutrition
Skin Care
Menopause
Hair
Makeup
Fashion
Faith
Robin tells some delightful stories about her quest to take care of herself at every stage of her life. She shares the details of her daily exercise routines and diet. She also shares her skin and hair care expertise. There are highlighted areas in the book called "Robin's Rx" and "Robins Way". Robin provides the brand names of the hair and skin products that she recommends. She also provides advice from a panel of experts who answer questions at the end of each chapter.

"What's Hormones Got to Do With It?" (Chapter 5) is very interesting. Robin has spent many years doing research on menopause and how it effects the health of women. She explains how bio-identical hormones can be used to replace natural hormones in a woman's body. Since these natural hormones need to be compounded, which means that they're specially customized and mixed upon the direction of a licensed physician, it is necessary to locate a compounding pharmacist. I have seen Robin on several talk shows promoting this book and she spends most of her time talking about menopause and hormones. She believes that getting your hormones balanced can make a huge difference in your life.

The last chapter, "What's Faith Got To Do With It", tells about Robin's Christian faith. She tells how her mother raised her in a God-centered home and her Christian faith is something that has inspired her deeply. Her mother took her to church, taught her to read and study the Bible and taught her about accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.

Robin McGraw has opened up her bag of tricks for fighting aging and has shared it with the world. This book is informative and inspirational. I look forward to reading the companion volume to this book.
