Have you heard the story of The Gnat and the Bull? It is an old Aesop fable that was written hundreds of years ago.
A Gnat landed on one of the horns of a Bull, and remained sitting there for a considerable time.
When it had rested sufficiently and was about to fly away, it said to the Bull, "Do you mind if I go now?"
The Bull merely raised his eyes and remarked, without interest, "It doesn't matter to me; I didn't notice when you came, and I won't know when you go away."
MORAL: We may often seem to be more important in our own eyes than in the eyes of our neighbors.
The gnat remained sitting on the bull's horn for a considerable time. He wasn't doing anything to make a difference. He wasn't contributing to the welfare of the bull. He was just sitting there.
