Never Lose Steam

Mr. Ring shares the following three kinds of goals that we should all set to achieve volcanic momentum and dynamic results;
  • SAGS - Small attainable goals. These goals will help you achieve quick success and keep up the momentum.
  • BHAGS - Big hairy audacious goals. Large goals that will have a huge impact on your life.
  • Destiny Goals - These are the goals you want to achieve to leave a legacy. These goals go beyond you.

Jordan shares his own life experiences and provides inspiration, motivation and MOMENTUM to help you build the life you desire.

MY THOUTHTS
I have read quite a few self-help books that focus on goal setting for success. I believe this book is right up there with the best of them.

This book provides well-organized information that is easy to implement and adapt to your life. The author writes in a style that is energetic, motivating and encouraging. Mr. Ring does not hesitate to share his Christian faith with his readers in an honest and straightforward manner.

I think the one thing that impressed me the most about this book was the idea of setting destiny goals.
Destiny goals can change the world by tapping into the potential of each of us as individuals to bring about bigger change. How you choose to change the world is entirely based on your own experiences and life circumstance. We are all on different life paths, but harnessing your uniqueness into the power of a Destiny Goal will give you firm and clear direction.
It has never been easy for me to come up with a set of goals and put them IN WRITING. This book has finally convinced me to start a journal and create and track goals for my life.

This is an excellent book to read at the end of the year to help you set goals for a happy and successful new year.

MY RATING: 5 STARS OUT OF 5

Author: Kevin D. Hendricks

Publisher: Monkey Outta Nowhere

Date: January 19, 2013

About The Author
Kevin D. Hendricks runs his own freelance writing and editing company, Mondkey Outta Nowhere.

Fall in Love With Reading
Do you wish you had more time for reading?
Is reading a priority in your life?
Do you have an addictive thirst for reading?

This is a how-to manual for reading. It is also the story of a young man's passion for reading and sharing books.
"I enjoy a good movie and I'm addicted to my share of sitcoms. But I still love to curl up with a good book. I still like to discover new worlds at the local library. I still like to get lost in a book, forget what's going on around me and find something new."
Mr. Hendricks explains how he finds time for reading in his hectic schedule. He takes a book everywhere he goes. He advises, "whenever you have an idle moment, instead of reaching for your smart phone, grab your book. Read at every opportunity you get, no matter how small."

The author shares ideas for tracking your reading and sharing reviews with others. The purpose of reading is to learn and grow. He advises readers to think and reflect on the things they read and write down thoughts in a journal or blog.

The last part of this 94-page ebook is an annotated list of the 137 books that Mr. Hendricks read in 2012. He lists a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction and comments on each selection.

My Thoughts
This is a wonderful read for all you bookworms. You will understand exactly how this author has developed a habit and passion for reading.

Reading really is a habit that we have to practice and develop. Mr. Hendricks  expresses his love and enthusiasm for reading in a delightful manner. It doesn't really matter the number of books you read. The important thing is that you read, read, read!

If you have not experienced the joy of daily reading, this book will inspire and motivate you to get started. Your life will never be the same!

My Rating: 4 Stars Out of 5

Book Review: Take The Stairs by Rory Vaden

Take the Stairs: 7 Steps to Achieving True Success

Author: Rory Vaden

Publisher: Perigee Trade

Date: February 7, 2012

About The Author
Rory Vaden is a self-discipline strategist, co-founder of the international training company - Southwestern Consulting, and a New York Times bestselling author.

7 Steps To Achieving True Success
Rory Vaden believes we live in an "escalator world"... one that is filled with shortcuts, quick fixes and distractions that make it all too easy to procrastinate, compromise and fall into mediocrity. "Take The Stairs" is about self-discipline and doing things you don't want to do in the short term to bring success in the long term.

Mr Vaden shares seven steps to achieving true success in this book. These steps are;
  • Sacrifice
  • Commitment
  • Focus
  • Integrity
  • Schedule
  • Faith
  • Action
The author uses case studies and experiences from his own life to explain how these seven steps can help you develop the courage, character and determination to succeed in anything you attempt.

My Thoughts
Mr. Vaden states in the Introduction of this book that there is a great chance that you won't finish reading the book. According to one major publisher, 95% of all books are never completely read. This same publisher states that 70% of all books that are purchased are never even opened!

I read the book from cover-to-cover and I am glad I did. This book does a good job explaining why the words "sacrifice" and "commitment" are not popular topics in our society today.

The book offers inspiring case studies about people who have found success by "doing things they don't want to do." The theme of self-discipline is repeated over and over in the text.

I love the analogy of the escalator and the stairs. I will think about this book each time I see an escalator crowded with people getting to their destination in the easiest and fastest way possible.

My very favorite part of the book is the chapter on commitment. Mr. Vaden shares the following thoughts on the subject of decision making and commitment;

"There will never be a perfect time, there will never be a perfect person, there will never be a perfect situation to start doing the things we need to get us where we want to go. We need to stop spending so much of our time trying to make the right decisions and instead start spending our time making decisions and then making them right".

This book will inspire and motivate you to take action. Recommended to all who have a dream and want to know how to make it come true.

My Rating: 5 Stars Out Of 5

FYI ~ I checked-out the print edition of this book from my local public library. The book is available in print and Kindle versions on Amazon.

Make Your Dreams Come True

"Getting an idea should be like sitting down on a tack—it should make you jump up and do something about it."   Unknown

I imagine this young boy is dreaming about what he might do when he grows up.  We have all had dreams but we don't always have the dicipline to make those dreams come true.
You have to have definite goals. You also have to get off your duff to be a success at anything. You have to start doing something about it now!

If you're going to be a great novelist, you had better practice writing at least one hour a day, starting today. If you plan to be a successful salesman, you'd better call on some prospects today. If you hope some day to own your own business, you'd better decide how much money you'll need to launch yourself, and start saving. There is only one time to take the first step toward realizing your goal. Right this minute!
