Momo the Clown Handmade Card

Isn't this a cute little clown? 
He is a little shy and not the least bit scary.

I made this handmade card featuring the digital stamp/sentiment "Momo" from Mo's Digital Pencil.

The background is a page from the "Garden Carnival Journal Kit" from Ephemera's Garden on Etsy. I printed this digital paper on textured watercolor paper. 

I colored the clown with alcohol markers and Prismacolor Premier pencils. 

I mounted the sentiment on black paper and put it at the top of the card. I die cut the clown image and embellished it with some dots and swirls stickers.

The finished size of this card is 5" by 6.5".

"You're not as young as you used to be," snarled Avido Padrone.
"No one wants to see an old dog doing puppy tricks."

Lucy is abandoned at the side of the road when the circus moves to their next destination. She is heartbroken.

Lucy's future is not as bleak as it first appears. She wanders into a fire station and befriends Sooty, the fire dog. Lucy discovers her inner courage when she accompanies the fire fighters to a burning house.

My Thoughts
Lucy Snigglefritz...I love the name and I think kids will love it too.
I am a long-time proponent of Kindle books for kids. 

I read this digital book on a 7" Kindle screen. At first, the illustrations and print seemed very small. However, I discovered you can "drag" the image with your fingers and make it fill the entire screen (kids will probably figure this out much faster than I did.)

Lucy is a strong and lovable female character and the story is extremely entertaining. Even though Lucy is abandoned by her owner, she overcomes her difficulties and uses the skills she learned in the circus to save a stranded kitten in the house fire. 

This book touches on the following issues that children may want to think about:

• Animal abandonment and care.
• Age discrimination.
• Gender equality.

 Lucy proves that old dogs CAN do puppy tricks and much more!

Circus Fun
Once a year, the cats in Marseille buy a ticket to visit Le Cat Circus Show. Hugo is the head cat and the three-ring show master.

All the circus performers are talented and creative cats. There are cat clowns, cat gymnasts, cat singers and cat jugglers. Each breed of cat has a special talent that is featured in the circus show. Some cute mice join in the fun and are shot out of a cannon onto a tiny trampoline.

At the end of the evening, Hugo bids all the cats farewell and they return to their homes with happy memories of their circus adventure.

My Thoughts
This is a delightful ebook that will entertain and educate young readers. Children will love the cat circus performers. The text is written in rhyme and the color illustrations are excellent. Cat lovers will be thrilled to see their favorite feline breeds performing daring circus acts and stunts.

I read this book on my Kindle Fire HD and was very pleased with the landscape orientation of this story. Each screen view looks like a 2-page layout with an illustration and four lines of text on each page.

This ebook is great fun for young readers and an excellent introduction to a circus performance. Highly recommended for all ages!
